As you can see, up top is an Ariel Atom 3.5R that’s wearing the deep blue and Day-Glo yellow livery. Fitted with functional Hella lamps, siren and rescue equipment, the 350bhp, 612kg Atom, with its 2.5s 0-100kph time, can pretty much tear any speeding criminal to shreds.
Simply because it’s been lent to the coppers by Ariel for the Somerset Road Safety event, meant to promote safe driving. Elsewhere, the Italian police force is no stranger to public-service Lamborghinis. To describe Dubai’s cop car expenditure as “extravagant” would be putting it rather mildly. It’s like a multiple oil field-owning, Dirham-splashing Arab’s garage (which it is, actually). Take a look at the list: Ferrari FF, Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, Aston Martin One-77, Brabus B63S Widestar, Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8V10, McLaren 12C, and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. The idea is to use them all as patrol cars in posh localities as a show of muscle, and to make the cops look more approachable
